Call for Talk/Training Proposals

The Application Security Forum Western Switzerland 2014 (#ASFWS14) is a well-established annual event dedicated to information, application and software security that will take place in Yverdon-les-Bains (Switzerland) at Y-Parc on November 4th, 5th and 6th, 2014. Tuesday November 4th, 2014, will be dedicated to full-day training sessions for security professionals. Therefore, we are looking for proposals of 1-day basic or advanced trainings in the following domains:

  • Authentication
  • Critical infrastructures (SCADA/ICS)
  • Cryptography
  • Digital and Federated identities
  • Exploitation
  • Mobile applications security
  • Security development lifecycle
  • Threat modeling
  • Web applications security
  • Web services security

Wednesday and Thursday November 5th and 6th, 2014, will offer a program of 45-minutes conferences (including Q&A sessions). We are looking for proposals of talks presenting new security research results in the following domains:

  • Advanced exploitation
  • Authentication
  • Botnet analysis
  • Cloud security
  • Critical infrastructures (SCADA/ICS)
  • Cryptography
  • Digital identities
  • Federated identities
  • Intrusion detection and prevention
  • Mobile applications security
  • Privacy
  • Security development lifecycle
  • SW and HW reverse engineering
  • Threat modeling
  • Web applications security
  • Web services security

These lists of subjects are not exclusive and proposals regarding other topics will also be considered.

Submission Guidelines:

It will be possible to use English or French for the presentations during the trainings and conferences, however we prefer all the accompanying material (paper/slides/etc.) to be written in English. Persons willing to submit one or several proposals for trainings and/or talks are invited to send us one PDF file per proposal including the following information:

Required information for training and talk proposals:

  • A title
  • A 200-word abstract describing your training or your talk
  • Rationale motivating why we should accept your proposal
  • A statement on whether your talk/training has already been presented, or if it will be presented somewhere else before the #AFSWS’14
  • A statement on whether your talk/training will be given in English or French;
  • A list of authors and their affiliations
  • The name of the presenter
  • Complete contact information for the presenter, including e-mail, web presence (website/blog/twitter/…), mobile phone number and full home address
  • A short biography of the presenter
  • A list of talks and/or trainings previously given by the presenter
  • A list of publications by the presenter

Additional required information for training proposals:

  • A precise table of contents of the training and/or the slides if already available;
  • An indication of the audience type for this training, including the expected technical level and prerequisites of the participants;
  • If neeeded, a list of special requirements (special network access, required equipment, etc.)

Additional required information for talk proposals:

  • A description of the research presented in the talk with a maximal length of 4 pages and/or the slides if already available;
  • If needed, a list of special requirements (special network access, equipment, etc.)

The PDF document(s) should be submitted at https://ichair.appsec-forum.com before June 1st, 2014, 23h59 CET. Submissions not following the above guidelines will be automatically rejected without consideration of their merits.
